This is the Rebellion against overproduced images often in the digital world. These are images made from my film cameras. Each image I shot myself. The subjects are often friends, and acquaintances in their world.
Maddogs and Englishmen
Ringu and Desperado both have shadowy faces when they are establishing the characters. I love this film. Rollei Pan 25. ISO of Twenty five. Beautiful beautiful stuff. This was shot in Arizona while Viv and I were playing with a slip and slide that lasted one day before it started melting in the AZ heat. Look at how shallow the depth is and its AZ in the Summertime, and in the middle of the freaking day.
This film allows for some really emotional stuff, nebulous in tone, and strong in imagery even when the light is the harshest. I’m going to experiment more with this and try and see what kind of application I use this to tell stories. Crushing the depth of field in noon day sun, is rare. I believe its what gives you those old world film qualities since the film back then was not as sensitive to light as they are now and probably very similar to ISO of 25.
