Stewart is not the photo/fashion type. In the extremes of personalities you find on set, the majority of who we work for are entirely not the blue collar type. They are often, pretty high on their own abilities(real or imagined/mostly the latter), and feel they don’t need to know something, just to have people that do.
Stew thankfully is a hybrid between, having white collar intelligence, blue collar know how, and engine oil stained collar humor. I really enjoy working with him, and the confidence he exudes. And recently I found that we have much more in common than I originally thought. Much more. He has been proof positive that I’m not crazy. That I’m not the only one with perspectives, and thoughts like this. That, guess what, I’m not only rational in my beliefs and opinions, but I’m not alone.
This was taken working on a photoshoot at Siren Stages in LA, and potentially this weekend, we were going to meet up to discuss an alternative process of photography. It astounds me that even the biggest photographers we work for, have no clue of the technologies both analogue and digital that Stew and me are cooking up in the background outside the parameters of what is “hot right now.” Having a passion for something as creative as what we are making, is what separates a true artist from a hackneyed imitator. I’m not saying we are creating something new, but to the contrary, revisiting a process that has gone far too long, overlooked and forgotten.
